Domizio Valentini

Domizio Valentini

CEO & Co-Founder

Domizio has nearly 30 years of experience in both military and commercial aviation. He has flown nearly 7,000 hours and currently holds the position of EASA Nominated Person Flight Operations at Volocopter. In this role, he is responsible for managing the first air taxi operations and pioneering the urban air mobility sector, demonstrating his ability to lead innovative aviation projects.

In addition, Domizio has held the position of Head of Training at Wingcopter for Unmanned Air Vehicles.

A former airline captain and Italian Air Force fighter pilot, he has an extensive educational background including an MBA, a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management, a postgraduate course in International Journalism and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Political Science.

Daniele Grano

Daniele Grano

Co-Founder

A distinguished Italian Air Force (ITAF) helicopter instructor pilot and staff officer with nearly 30 years of experience in various international environments. Specialising in helicopter operations, Daniele has skilfully managed roles in procurement and innovation.

As a facilitator in defence workshops and involved in concept development for the Italian Defence Innovation Office, he demonstrates a strategic understanding of military operations and innovation. Daniele’s leadership skills were further honed as a squadron commander in the ITAF, where he led search and rescue operations for over three years.

His education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in International Political Science and specialised training in Electronic Warfare, enhancing his operational and strategic insights. Daniele’s diverse experience, from piloting to managing sophisticated military projects, underlines his profound leadership skills and deep understanding of aviation and defence.

Giovanni Zema

Giovanni Zema

Co-Founder

Giovanni is a seasoned aviation professional with extensive experience in helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft. His career has been marked by significant roles within the Italian Air Force, where he specialised in combat search and rescue, personnel recovery, and firefighting.

Giovanni’s leadership and tactical skills were further developed as a Tactics and Flight Instructor at the ITAF 15th Wing and as a Flight Safety Officer. In addition, Giovanni has played a key role in safety management, serving as Security and Cyber Security Manager for the ALIDAUNIA HEMS helicopter group.

He currently contributes his extensive knowledge as a Type Rating Instructor for AW139 and AW169 helicopters at the Leonardo Helicopter Training Academy. Giovanni’s diverse experience, from tactical flight operations to academic teaching and safety management, highlights his multi-faceted leadership and deep understanding of the aviation and safety sectors.

His academic achievements include a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Strategic Analysis and a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical, Defence and Security Sciences.

Prof. Marco Martorella

Chief Research and Development Officer

He stands as a distinguished Full Professor at the University of Birmingham, specializing in RF and Space Sensing. He also serves as Vice-Director of the Radar and Surveillance Systems National Laboratory (RaSS Lab). His international recognition extends to his role as an External Professor at the University of Cape Town and as Chair of the NATO Sensors and Electronics Technology (SET) Panel. 

Marco’s contributions to radar technology are extensive, with over 270 publications, multiple books, and a notable presence in global radar conferences. His accolades include the IEEE 2013 Fred Nathanson Memorial Radar Award and several NATO SET Panel Excellence Awards. As a co-founder and scientific advisor of ECHOES, he brings his expertise to the forefront of radar system development. 

Educationally, Martorella holds a Laurea and Ph.D. in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Pisa, underlining his deep academic roots and expertise in the field. His research interests encompass radar imaging, passive radar, and space situational awareness, positioning him as a prominent figure in both academia and industry.

Alfonso Masciavé

Alfonso Masciavé

Technical Advisor

Alfonso’s career spans more than two decades in the Italian Air Force, where he served as a senior engineering officer. As well as being an inventor with a patented industrial invention on an “Automatic system for controlling the radio frequency band of the electromagnetic spectrum and for preventing the effective use of communication channels pre-determined by the user via software,” he is also an educator, having taught at the University of Rome Tre.

His extensive education includes a Master’s degree in Complex Electronic Systems Engineering and an Electronics Engineering degree.

Among his notable achievements are several awards for his service, including the Silver Medal of Aeronautical Merit and NATO medals for operations in Afghanistan and Libya.
